FHLBank Topeka approved $14.5 million in affordable housing grants nationwide. The grants will fund 28 projects through FHLBank Topeka’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP). This year, FHLBank Topeka received 58 applications for AHP grants with requests for over $30.5 million to fund projects in the FHLBank four-state district (Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma), as well as Arkansas, Iowa and Texas.
Nonprofit groups, for-profit developers and public entities apply for the grants through one of FHLBank’s member institutions, comprised of 722 commercial banks, savings institutions, credit unions and insurance companies in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Each year, FHLBank Topeka allocates 10% of its prior year’s earnings for AHP.
FHLBank’s housing and community development programs are an important part of sustaining its mission, to make a difference by helping our members build their communities.
